Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
Do you accept shorter stays during Peak Season?
Because of our very limited Peak Season in Maine (June through September), we do require all guests to reserve the full Seven Night, Saturday to Saturday stay dates. Off Season, we do allow for Three Night Minimum Stays.
Should I get Travel Insurance?
Travel Insurance is an OPTION offered at the moment of booking. It is NOT a mandatory item that you need to acquire.
We suggest PlayTravel in order to give our guests protection in case of an unforeseen incident - see what's covered.
Due to the fact that the Rental Season is only 12 short weeks, our company policy is very clear and concise and it works very well for both the owners and our guests.
Due to the Game of Life, we are strongly recommending that our guests acquire Travel Insurance.
It is a smart investment to protect your travel plans.
If you must cancel your reservation and you have not purchased travel insurance, we will be able to refund your initial investment only if we are able to rebook your week.
What Time Is Check-In?
Check in begins at 4:00PM at your property to accommodate the cleaning services.
We will be sending you a text when your property is all ready for you!
What Time Is Check-Out?
Check out is at 10:00AM - Cleaners arrive promptly and must have complete access to the home and parking to ensure a swift turnover.
Can I Have An Early Check-In?
Unfortunately we do not allow any early check-ins. Our housekeeping teams and property managers need the proper amount of time to clean the property before you arrive. Please plan accordingly to not arrive prior to 4:00 P.M. This restriction applies to parking at the home prior to check-In time. Sorry, no exceptions.
How Do I Book?
Our web site provides instant quotes and our available properties. Select your week of stay and define the number of guests or number of bedrooms. This will bring up a list of properties available for that week. Each property can be opened to review more photos, rates, property descriptions, amenities, calendars, and a map. From there, you can send an inquiry for your dates of interest!
Once your booking has been accepted, a 50% deposit is required to reserve your week.
Forty-Five (45) days prior to your arrival, your second payment installment is due.
If you have any questions about availability, give Salt & Shine a call or send us an email! We are happy to help.
When do you begin accepting bookings for the next calendar year?
We like to give our owners time to reflect on their current season to revisit rates and reserve dates for themselves. We also offer all current guests the rights to first refusal for their week of stay. Calendars begin opening in October and payments are accepted January 1.
What Are My Responsibilities As A Guest?
Many vacationers like to vacation with other family members or friends. Although only one member of each rental party will sign the Rental Agreement, we like to ensure that the Primary Guest who signs the rental agreement in their name is solely responsible for payment, deposits (including fees and taxes), and maintaining the condition of the property. All guests should read the rental agreement prior to your arrival.
Guest must be at least 28 years of age to rent with Salt & Shine.
Is Online Booking Secure?
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order. We offer the use of a secure server for all financial transactions and a receipt/confirmation email is sent to you as soon payment is received.
Can I bring my pet with me?
We have only a few properties that are pet negotiable. Please send us an email with a photo of your four-legged family member, the breed, weight, age, if they are crate trained, and any additional information we may need when interested in a pet-friendly home for approval by our owners.
All Bed Sheets & Bath Towels are included with all Salt & Shine Rentals.
Our cleaning crews and property managers have taken and will continue to take any possible measure in order to ensure a safe and clean environment for our guests. All the CDC guidelines are followed and enforced.
